We took a bus SW to Kampot, and from there we took a 4WD tour in
Bokor National Park. The road up there was rough, and we were in the back of a pick-up, which made for some sore bums all round :) It was good fun though, and an interesting place to see. There is a hill station at the top and a ghost town of run-down buildings that used to be a fancy resort. The oldest buildings (the hotel casino, and the catholic church) were built in 1922, and it was a much fought-over place during the Kymer Rouge and the Vietnam War.

We stopped at what used to be the King’s Palace on the way up, and then walked to some lovely waterfalls - it was a really nice spot. We had a typical Kymer feast as a picnic lunch - vegetable curry in a coconut milk sauce with rice - delicious!

The night before we’d gone out to the "Rusty Keyhole" restaurant with Nell & Dan, a really nice English couple we met at the guesthouse. They've just come from Vietnam so we all shared some tips on things to see and do!
