SCOTLAND!!

Victory for Scotland in the Four Nations!! Its probably my favourite tennis event to be involved in each year - I was expecting to be a non-playing captain, but was surprised (in a good way!) to be selected to play in the senior team. Keith Meisner & Jordy Gray were the senior men, Euan McGinn our captain and Claire Birnie the other female. We won our category, beating Ireland 4-2, England 4-2 and Wales 5-1. Our U/12 team won easily, and our U/14s and U/18s were a close second.

A bit of last minute pressure is always good so I trained hard for 2 weeks before and probably played my best tennis since finishing college, especially on the last day! It was great to have lots of supporters there, and everyone competed and supported really well. My results were as follows:
Beat Lynsey McCulloch (IRE) 6-3 6-1 Doubles 6/4 6/1
Beat Elizaeth Thomas (ENG) 2-6 6-3 10-3 Doubles 2/6 6/4 5/10
Beat Rebecca Llewellyn (WAL) 6-2 6-4 Doubles 7/6 6/2

This is a pic of Euan & I at the end - player & coach, both as patriotic as each other :) He had a couple of really good results as well so overall it was a great weekend. I really enjoyed competing again - it's taken me a week to recover but it was worth it!
Full results are on the Tennis Scotland website
