Hairy Haggis Relay Team!!

Alex, Alan, Neil & I (all from Craiglockhart) were running in the Edinburgh marathon relay, raising money for ClicSargent children’s fund. It was split into 2 long legs and 2 short legs, so I started us off running 8.2 miles, Alan ran 5.3 miles, Neil ran 7.9 miles, and Alex had the “Glory Leg” of 4.7 miles. It was really good fun, and our official time at the finish was 3hrs 32 mins, so pretty good going! I clocked my run at 53 minutes which I was pretty pleased with, especially as a lot of it was against the wind (having said that, the first part was all downhill so pretty cruisy!) More importantly, we managed to raise a massive £1,031 for charity which was fantastic – thanks to everyone who sponsored us!!

BTCA Nottingham

Had a short trip down south for a strength & conditioning workshop at Roehampton, followed by a tournament in Nottingham with Emma & Euan. Coaches get to sit on court during the player plus event, a bit like the Davis Cup or Fed Cup at a junior level. I could only do the first 2 days because I was running the Edinburgh Marathon relay on Sunday, so Ellinore sat on court with the kids on Sunday. Emma won the girls event – there was a cash prize for the coach of the winning player so I’m still hoping to see that come my way at some point :)

Work night out

The Scottish Open (international senior event) was on at Craiglockhart all week, and traditionally all the staff go out at the end of the week for dinner and drinks (quite a few drinks). Not much to say other than Friday night was a lot of fun, and working all day Saturday was not :)

Lake District

After a manic week at work, I got the train down to Lancaster on Friday night and had a really nice chilled out holiday weekend staying with the Wolfendales! The house is amazing - used to be a mill - with a lovely garden and lake, how cool is that?! I never see Ali much anymore (she lives in London now), but whenever we do catch up we can just start chatting wherever we left off last time!

Sheila, Ali & I went hiking in the Lake District on Saturday (while David completed the Comiston hill race) and we saw Auntie Wendy at the end who'd been running too(not really my auntie, but was my mum's bridesmaid and that's what we've always known her as!) - went back for a cup of tea and had a good catch up with her too! On Sunday I ran up the local hill (called Nikky Nook?!)a couple of times, then Ali & I went into Lancaster for a wander and general blether. Monday morning we all went for a cycle round the country lanes, it was really nice to explore the area where they live, which is about 8 miles outside Lancaster. Then I got the train back up and felt refreshed ready for work on Tuesday! The weather's been fantastic this week, so I've been coaching outside and working on my tan - can't really complain about a job when it's like that :)
