Dunfermline Leagues/Scottish Cup
I’ve been playing for Dunfermline tennis team this year, so have had quite a few league matches (all doubles) for the past couple of months… its been fun to play a bit although there’s a big mix of standards throughout the clubs, and some of the matches can be slightly frustrating! The Scottish Cup moved into the final stages and we played Newlands in the final at Craiglockhart. We won fairly comfortably (5-2), and enjoyed watching some of the men’s final, which was actually a pretty good standard of tennis!

Hilarious fun! We met at Ratho (Indoor Climbing Arena just outside Edinburgh) to do the Aerial Assault Course - you get harnessed in and then have to step off a ledge 100 feet above the ground to begin!! Of course Jen was first, and she did really well because its a bit scary at first, and I had the advantage of having done it before :) Everyone either enjoyed it, or was at least happy/proud of themselves for doing it!
Here's a video of Jen taking the big step...
We came back to the flat and had a brilliant time getting ready to go out and having Jen open some random presents that everyone had brought - she had to either wear or carry all the presents, and ended up looking pretty ridiculous after everything had been opened! Plenty of jelly shots and punch (which ended up having parsley instead of mint in it, oops) were consumed! I'd made a 'special book' for her, which everyone had contributed to - pictures & stories/quotes/words to describe her and some funny incidents she'd had with various people. It turned out pretty well and I think she was really touched by it :) After several drinks and a lot of hilarity we headed into Koi - a Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant where they cook the food in front of you... the food was fantastic, plenty more wine was consumed and everyone had a good time. After that we went dancing at Le Monde on George Street - mum's first trip to a night club, she was loving it! It was a really great day/night and I hope Jen had as much fun as I did!! We went down to Newcastle on Friday night - Gav, Jen, Martin Flett & I all stayed with Fiona so it was really nice to catch up with them properly! On Saturday we had a pretty relaxed morning and a light lunch at Gran’s with mum & dad. The wedding ceremony was in the old church in Stamfordham mid-afternoon - the weather was amazing and it was a fantastic day!! The dinner & reception were in a marquee in Uncle Gavin & Auntie Lynne’s garden - it looked superb.
Sunday we had a fantastic lunch at UG & AL’s in the marquee - it was pouring with rain so amazingly lucky the weather had been so good the day before! Not much longer to Gav & Jen’s wedding now :) Stayed with Gran on Sunday night, because I was going to visit Northumberland tennis centre on Monday, for part of my LTA role as strength & conditioning coordinator. It was really nice to spend some time with her… as she says (several times!!) “I used to look after you”. Now there’s been a reversal of roles and its nice to be able to look after her a little too!
